One life, on work…
Sobo Bade, it is first a lifetime work. The life of Gerard Chenet, an haitian man arrived in Senegal in the 60s and who, in parallel of his official occupations with the cultural authorities, pursued his dream, his vision, little by little. Since, his wife Sylvaine and any others, resident artists, cultural development manager, and many others, are feeding collectively this work that will always be evolving, experimenting, progressing.
Cultural and responsible tourism
This tourist and cultural place is like no other. It is singular in its construction, in its cultural activities, in the diversity of its visitors, in the activites suggested, in the experimentations for a better living (constructions with natural materials, energies, water management, artistic development…). A UFO, but well on earth (see the article of Justine and Mahery during their HopTour West Africa).

The first contact (visual) with the place will automaticly suprise anyone who comes here. The second look, if the visitor goes to the beach and the sea, will be enchanting. The next discoveries, will feed body and spirit throughout encounters and potential performances and art axhibitions (paintings, sculptures, batik, danses, musique, ironworks…).
On the menu of the day, typical senegalese dishes, or european, homemade cocktails, swimming pool, exhibitions and shows, walks on the beach, and if you get lucky enough to talk with Gerard, take enough time…
We necessarily leave Sodo Bade bigger, richer (in a good way). A unique, authentique and responsible travel experience, life experience.

Tous les ans se tient le festival de Rythmes et Formes du monde, organisé par l’Association pour la Promotion de Développement durable de Dialaw, sous la direction de Gérard Chenet, dramaturge, poète, sculpteur et architecte. J’ai proposé mes services de photographe pour la 6ème édition du 24 Décembre 2016 au 2 Janvier 2017. Y ont participé nombre d’artistes venus des quatre coins du monde mais aussi du village même, Toubab Dialaw, comme des jeunes Hip Hop surfeurs ou les enfants d’Ornella qui ont dansé. Sobo Bade est un lieu magique, un lieu d’échange pour nombre d’ artistes pluridisciplinaires. Les spectacles ont lieu le soir à l’Engouement dans un amphithéâtre non moins magique inspiré du style sahélo-soudanais. Les constructions pour les résidents sont réalisées en brique de terre crue et utilisent des techniques ancestrales comme la voûte nubienne.
Les échanges avec les artistes, les organisateurs et la population auraient-ils été aussi riches et inspirants si je n’avais pas été la photographe officielle du festival, comme me l’a permis Hopineo?? Sans doute pas. 10 jours où j’ai vécu à 100 à l’heure dans un lieu qui invite pourtant à la méditation. 10 jours bien remplis à l’issue desquels on est forcément différents! Une école de vie en quelques sorte!
