Pulau Macan Village & Eco Resort is located in the Thousand Islands, a chain of approximately 330 islands stretching 45 km north off the coast of Jakarta, Indonesia.
Roderick Des Tombes, an American native who grew up in Jakarta, built this resort with the aim to connect people, educate them on the current environmental issues, and provide solutions to address the issues related to negative environmental impacts around Jakarta’s bay.
Pulau Macan Village & Eco Resort vision is to educate, inspire, preserve, and enhance the island’s natural environment, both on land and in sea.
The Resort can currently accommodate up 40 people in a range of low-impact accommodation facilities built exclusively from recycled drift-wood. Even the furniture and decor are made with recycled drift wood and designed by the local staff!
The resort also features a private untouched island, the ideal location to snorkel and relax on a white sand beach.
The island provides solar powered energy, a rain-water collection system, waste recycling, composting, and friendly staff committed to making the world a better place! Most of the food is organic and vegetarian friendly, and imported from Jakarta and nearby areas (including a few small organic farms).
The resort offers a large range of activities during the day: snorkelling, diving, paddling, canoeing…and relaxing activities such as board games, libraries, ping pong table, pool table, badminton, volley-ball, and even ocean-view massages in the small spa hut! Guests can also chose to relax on their private balcony, and observe the beautiful ocean views and sunsets, or chill to some great music in the sea-side bar lounge.
Projects such as monthly Coral Reef farming (see ecosolution), daily clean-ups of the water surrounding the islands, and organic gardening are also part of the conservation and environment programs that Roderick Des Trombes and his team engage in.
What more? Part of the profits (approx. 5$/pers./day) are redirected to carbon offsetting and tree planting in the Javanese mountains. All of the staff are local, and employees whom have worked for more than 6 years are given shares in the company!
Pulau Macan Village & Eco Resort shows a true commitment to making the world a better place, and proves that guests can enjoy comfort while providing a positive impact on the local communities and environments.
Pulau Macan, a small paradise that you can feel proud to have chosen as your next vacation destination!
Welcome to Pulau Macan. We can’t wait to host you for an unique responsible tourism experience!
