Mai Chau Ecolodge is located in Mai Chau valley, to the south-east of Hanoi. It is situated on a hill, looking like an ancient Thai village. It is composed of 21 bungalows, built on stilts with local and natural materials: thatched roofs, bamboo interiors and wooden furniture.

The main values of the ecolodge are the closeness to nature, the environmental protection and the cultural preservation of the culture and traditions of the seven minorities living in Mai Chau and its surroundings.

The establishment uses sustainable energies such as biomass energy and solar energy, especially for the lighting and the hot-water heating.

The employees were all born in the surrounding villages, and all wear the traditional outfit of their community. To share their culture, a traditional dance show is hold every night along with other activities including both the locals and the travellers.

Last year, the owners created a fund to help young local people paying for their studies. A part of the ecolodge’s revenue is donated to this fund.
