Finca Exotica Ecolodge, gave Florie (HopTour Latin America) and then Jacquelyn (HopTour Costa Rica), a wonderful welcome to their beautiful property. The owners, Gaby and Markus, were incredibly hospitable and passionate about their impressive ecolodge. Finca Exotica is situated very close to the entrance of Corcovado National Park. Here, one can gain the full experience of Osa and Corcovado “glamping” style.

The Ecolodge

Aside from the innovative styles of their Cabanas and Tiki Tents, the Ecolodge offers a myriad of stimulating experiences. There is healthy food cooked in the open kitchen. Many of the ingredients come from the garden, and one can really notice the difference. Finca Exotica practices permaculture, and is always looking for ways to expand their practices.

If you would like to escape the complications of reality, here you will discover that the most simple things are the ones that make you the happiest. The sound of the wildlife and crashing waves at night. The family style dinners in the restaurant Casa Grande, where all of the guests come together to socialize and connect. Practice yoga in peace and tranquility on the deck where you have the view of the ocean and jungle. Explore the trails and gardens full of exotic wildlife. Walk to the beach in search of turtle hatchlings beginning their journey to the sea, and bathe in the turquoise water. The options are infinite.

All of this surrounding wildlife is the product of constructing this property in the most sustainable manner possible. The preferred material for them is bamboo. It is very easy to grow, and with future construction in mind they have planted more. Markus, one of the owners, has told me that all of the wood construction was done by using every part of the tree. He wanted to use all of the pieces as much as possible to avoid wasting anything. Walking between the different areas of Finca Exotica, it is very easy to pass the time observing the various plants, flowers, and rainbow of colors.

Social Responsibility

Finca Exotica always keeps the local community in mind. They offer discounted lodging to the volunteers of COTORCO, a turtle conservation program. During my visit, I had the pleasure of attending the Festival of the Turtles. Every year, all of the businesses in this area participate, and Finca Exotica helps with preparations and donates food. This festival is fun and educational, and locals of all ages attend in order to increase the awareness of the turtle life cycle.

Finca Exotica is an exemplary property, and to learn more please visit fincaexotica.com. If you are planning a visit to Corcovado National Park, we believe that Finca Exotica is a well worthy destination.
